On the morning of March 11, the SA60L light sport aircraft, equipped with the 80kW tandem aviation hybrid electric propulsion system developed by the AvIC Engine Research Institute, made its maiden flight at Lusong General Airport in Zhuzhou. According to reports, the 80kW class tandem aviation hybrid electric propulsion system demonstration and verification machine development project based on Sanhe SA60L light sport aircraft carried out by Air China Engine Research Institute and Sanhe Science and Technology co., LTD and Air China South Development Co., LTD is also the first aviation hybrid electric propulsion system demonstration and verification project based on gas turbine engine in China. Compared with traditional power, hybrid electric propulsion system has advantages of flexible layout, high reliability and high safety. It can be applied to vTOL urban commuter aircraft and other aircraft platforms such as general aircraft and regional aircraft in UAM scenarios, as well as to ship and land vehicle propulsion fields.
